Summer Twilight Thursdays
5:30–8 p.m. Thursday Evenings
| Thursday, August 27, 2009 - Due to unhealthful atmospheric conditions and bad air quality, Descanso Gardens will be closing at 1:00 PM today, Thursday, August 27th. Twilight Thursday is therefore canceled. The fire burning on the Angeles Crest Highway is not currently a threat to Descanso Gardens, but the gardens are in the direct path of the ash/smoke plume. Thank you. |
Stroll the Gardens every Thursday in July and August when Descanso is opened until 8 p.m. Check out the Gift Store
which also will be open late. In addition, bring picnics and blankets for great outdoor entertainment during the “Warm Nights, Cool Sounds” concert series at the Under the Oaks Theater.
Concerts are from 5:30–7 p.m. Line-up includes:
July 2 Children’s entertainer Tim Griffin.
July 9 The Elliott Caine Quintet plays jazz standards and original compositions influenced by Afro-Latin jazz and the 60’s Blue Note sounds.
July 23 The Robert Kyle Brazilian Trio performs instrumental bossa novas and Brazilian jazz classics.
July 30 The Louie Cruz Beltran Ensemble blends high energy salsa with jazz, R&B and pop.
Aug. 6 The Mitchell Long Group features Afro-Brazilian arrangements with Mitchell singing in Portuguese.
Concerts free with Gardens admission.

Guild members and Children under 5 free.

Reciprocal Admissions are only during regular Garden hours, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
and will not be accepted on Twilight Thursdays.
