Docent-Guided Visits

Experienced and dedicated volunteers lead educational walks for school classes Tuesday through Thursday during the school year. Guided walks begin at 9:30 a.m. and last 90 minutes. The focus of the docent walk changes with the season. Classroom preparation materials can be provided by Descanso Gardens. Alternatively, the walk can be designed to complement the classroom curriculum if that information is provided by the teacher when scheduling the visit. Classes on docent-guided visits must have at least one adult for every 10 students. (A lower ratio is preferable to allow for smaller docent groupings.) Advance reservations are required.

Reservations
Reservations are required for both self-guided and docent-guided visits to Descanso Gardens. There is no fee for students and accompanying adults, up to one adult for every four children. Adults in excess of a one to four ratio must pay the general admission fee of $8 per person. A brochure with detailed information on tours, teacher, chaperone guidelines, a reservation confirmation and pre-trip admission pass are sent out once you have reserved a group visit. School groups will not be admitted without a reservation.
