Join Rich Atwater and Rachel Young for a special guided walk around Descanso Gardens with a focus on water. Together, Atwater and Young bring extensive knowledge about water resources and conservation efforts and will explore the big picture of water in the LA area, water wise practices at Descanso, and water conservation efforts you can make in your own garden.

Rich Atwater has over 35 years of experience working with water resources and management. Atwater has served as the Executive Director of the Southern California Water Committee, a non-profit dedicated to informing Southern Californians about water needs and water resources, worked as a water resources consultant for NASA/Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and brings with him a deep knowledge of water conservation efforts and strategies.

Rachel Young is the Director of Horticulture and Garden Facility Operations at Descanso and  is responsible for water management and conservation here at the gardens. Young has a background in wildlife biology and conservation, and therefore when planning for the care of Descanso’s plants, she takes into consideration the health of the whole habitat.

Free with admission, no registration required. Meets at Center Circle.
