Community Service Day @ Descanso Gardens

Get hands-on gardening experience and help care for Descanso at this volunteer opportunity. Instruction will be provided and work will be supervised by Descanso horticulture staff. This is a great opportunity for individuals, friends, and organizations.
 
· All experience levels welcome.
· Ages 16 or older.
· Bring gardening gloves.
· Limited Space Available, RSVP required.

Learn all about tea at this workshop with herbalist, educator and author, Emily Han. Enjoy a sensory tasting activity, explore tea blending principles and learn to incorporate herbs and botanicals for flavor, aroma, color, and therapeutic effects. Choose from an array of ingredients to craft your own custom tea blend to take home.

Join artist Virginia Hein in this four-week art series to learn to sketch the varied landscapes of Descanso using a variety of media. Meets on four Saturdays from February 1–22 at Minka in the Japanese Garden.

Garden Sprouts is a grownup and child (ages 2-4) class where the seeds of love for nature are planted and nurtured. Children and adults participate in story time, songs, hands-on nature, science, art, and gardening activities, as well as prepare a healthy snack together. All activities are designed specifically for children’s fine and gross motor skills and social development.
