Join artist Pete Morris and learn new watercolor techniques as you explore the various landscapes of Descanso. A brief classroom instruction will be followed by open air painting in different locations.

All levels are welcome. Meets on four Saturdays beginning May 2.

$90 members, $120 non-members. Advance registration required, register here. Students will be emailed a materials list after registration. Please note that this program is non-refundable.

“The Sky Beneath Our Feet” by Pete Wyer @ Descanso Gardens

Come walk through an immersive sound installation by composer Pete M. Wyer. Inspired by the coast live oaks at Descanso Gardens, “The Sky Beneath Our Feet” was written specifically for Descanso. Played over 72 speakers throughout the Camellia Forest, visitors will experience this choral and instrumental composition as they walk through the garden. Free with admission.

The music is one hour long and begins at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm.

Meets online over Zoom for five Saturdays from July 10–August 7, 10–11:30am.

Join artist Virginia Hein in this five-week art series and learn to sketch the varied landscapes of Descanso using a variety of media. Students will meet weekly on Zoom for instruction and conversation, and will be given exercises to do at Descanso on their own time between class sessions.

$100 per person. Register in advance here. Students will be provided with a materials list with registration. Members only.
