Examples of ikebana, the art of flower arranging, from the Sogetsu School of Ikebana will be on display in the Japanese Garden.

Get hands-on gardening experience by mulching in the garden and help care for Descanso at this volunteer opportunity. Instruction will be provided.
All experience levels are welcome.
Ages 16 or older.
Must be able to lift, bend and stand for long periods of time. Moderate to heavy lifting involved.
Bring gardening gloves and water.
Remember to wear comfortable clothing and closed toed shoes.

Join us for a painting workshop on Friday, October 20 to share the quiet beauty of the Rose Garden in all its splendor of greens, golds, pinks and reds. Instructor Dilmit Singh will guide you to keenly observe patterns created by shapes, both organic and inorganic.
Dimlit will demonstrate the value of using creative and analytical skills to make the ordinary, special.

About the Instructor:
Dilmit Singh is a local artist who teaches art classes both in La Canada and Sierra Madre. She loves sketching and painting in natural surroundings and enjoys capturing the essence of her locales both in watercolor and oils.
Come explore, play and create with us under the oaks on the Main Lawn. Families with young children (age 2–5 years old) will enjoy doing arts and crafts and nature exploration together each month.
