The Pasadena Garden Club will be participating to get hands-on gardening experience and help care for the the Gardens at this volunteer opportunity. Instruction will be provided and work will be supervised by Descanso horticulture staff. 
 
· All experience levels welcome.
· Ages 12-15.
· Bring gardening gloves.
· Adult chaperones welcome

Cool Camellia Celebration @ Descanso Gardens

Celebrate our iconic camellia collection during peak blooming season on Saturday and Sunday, January 11 and 12. Enjoy crafting, walks and more among these blooming winter beauties. Included in the price of regular Descanso Gardens admission, no reservations required.

Steve Medford demonstrates pruning camellia plants on Saturday, and George Harrison will lead a floral arranging demonstration on Sunday.

Camellia Walks

Join camellia experts from the Southern California Camellia Society for a tour of Descanso’s collection at 2pm on Saturday and Sunday. Dr. Bradford King will lead the walk on Saturday, and James Fitzpatrick will lead the walk on Sunday.

Cultivate: Stories in the Stars @ Descanso Gardens

Feed your curiosity about science, nature and plants during our new Cultivate series. On Saturday, February 1, bring your flashlight and bundle up after dark for Cultivate: Stories in the Stars. See a performance by Leslie K. Gray featuring her enchanting shadow puppetry. Learn about the stars and constellations and enjoy music, food, crafts, and discovery in the garden after the sun has set.

Cultivate: Nature Sounds & Wildlife @ Descanso Gardens

Bask in the early tulip blooms and cherry blossoms at Cultivate: Nature Sounds & Wildlife on March 7. Learn about the wildlife that surrounds us with nature talks, displays, and a special performance of “BEE SONG” during a night of discovery.

    The world-renowned Bob Cole Conservatory Chamber Choir from California State University, Long Beach performs a special arrangement of “BEE SONG” by composer Robert Hoehn. Written for the Resonant Nest, part of the exhibition in the Sturt Haaga Gallery, this 15-minute score was inspired by the daily activity of a bumblebee colony.

Please note that the Spring Bloom Walks are canceled through May 9.

Stroll through the gardens and learn about cherry blossoms, flowering trees, and other seasonal favorites on these guided walks. Meets on Fridays and Saturdays, March 6–May 9. Friday walks meet at 1pm, Saturday walks meet at 11am and 1pm.

Please note that the Spring Bloom Walks are subject to availability and may be canceled due to weather.
