Celebrate America’s favorite flower in our beautiful Rose Garden from May 20-21. Come and experience our discovery station, floral art activities, garden walks and more! All activities free with admission.

Rare Rose Discovery Station | 9am – noon
Get an up close look at rare and special roses from Descanso’s collection.

Floral Art Activities | 10am – 2pm
Make your very own floral creations using roses and other flowers.

“Human Vase” Living Art | 11am – 2pm
Come view floral artist Alison Franchi and make-up artist Jennifer Aspinall’s latest installation, as they transform a live model into a piece of floral art.

Cello Performance | 11am, noon and 1pm
Enjoy a cello performance framed by the beauty of the Rose Garden.

Rose Garden Walk and Talk | 1pm
Join Descanso Gardens horticulture staff on a guided walk through the Rose Garden.

Patina | 10am – 4pm
Don’t miss rose-inspired fare from Patina available for purchase in the Rose Pavilion.

Join us for an adventure at Descanso Gardens. These guided walks will take 6-10 year olds and their families on an expedition to explore and discover nature at Descanso. Meets in Center Circle.

Members Only Summer Kick-off @ Descanso Gardens

Descanso Members are invited to celebrate the beginning of summer with a musical performance by La ChambaBorn into working-class Los Angeles communities, La Chamba amplifies the realities that make them who they are by adding a rhythm to the daily bustle of life. Their audience is as much a part of their performance as they are: encouraging and electrifying people to let loose and release their grind on the dance floor.

Bring a picnic or purchase grill favorites from Patina and enjoy a wonderful evening under the Descanso oaks. Lawn seating is first-come, first-served. No reciprocal gardens admissions.

Descanso Discoveries Summer Camp runs from 9am–3pm, Monday–Friday from June 19–23.

Descanso will once again partner with the Child Educational Center to present two fun and adventurous weeks of summer camp for children entering grades 1-7. Children will tend to their own garden plot, prepare healthy snacks in the outdoor kitchen, and investigate the wonders of our natural world through art and science-based activities. End of Summer Festival @ Descanso Gardens

The gardens stay open extra late for this end of summer celebration.  Grab a cold drink and relax to the tunes of the The Flashdance DJswander through the gardens to the sounds of live music. Enjoy the sunset, then end the night with some stargazing in the Oak Woodland. Bring your own flashlight!

  • Stargazing | 8:30–9:30 p.m. | Oak Woodland: See the night sky through a telescope with the help of the Old Town Sidewalk Astronomers.
