End of Summer Festival @ Descanso Gardens
Aug 30 @ 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm

The gardens stay open extra late for this end of summer celebration. Grab a cold drink and relax to the tunes of the The Flashdance DJswander through the gardens to the sounds of live music. Enjoy the sunset, then end the night with some stargazing in the Oak Woodland. Bring your own flashlight! Advance tickets required, get yours here:

  • Crafting: Inspired by the Gardens | 5:30–7:30 p.m. | Rose Garden
  • Live Musicians | 6–8 p.m. | Various locations
  • Crafting: Inspired by the Stars  | 7:30–9:30 p.m. | Boddy Lodge
  • Stargazing | 8:30–9:30 p.m. | Oak Woodland: See the night sky through a telescope with the help of the Old Town Sidewalk Astronomers.
  • Festival Food by Patina | 5–9 p.m. | Main Lawn: Enjoy signature cocktails inspired by summer, beer, and barbeque favorites for purchase.

Japanese Garden Festival @ Descanso Gardens

Celebrate Japanese art and culture at this annual festival set in our Japanese Garden. Enjoy family-friendly events including a tour of the the garden, taiko drum performances and crafting. Activities free to members except where noted. Click here to see Sunday’s schedule.

Ikebana Display | 9am – 5pm
View examples of ikebana, the art of flower arranging, from the Sogetsu School of Ikebana.

Japanese Garden Talk and Tour | 10am
Dr. Kendall Brown, leading Japanese Garden expert and professor of Asian art history, will present a talk about Japanese-style gardens, followed by a walk through Descanso’s Japanese Garden and book-signing of his newest book Visionary Landscapes.

Taiko Drummers | 11:30am & 1:30pm
Kishin Daiko drummers perform heart-pounding feats of percussion.

Crafting | 10am–2pm
Create your own work of art inspired by the Japanese Garden.

Patina Fare | 10am–4pm
Patina chefs will have Japanese-inspired fare and barbecue selections available for purchase.
