Cherry Blossom and BLOOM! Member Preview @ Descanso Gardens

Skip the crowds and check out the blossoms at this exclusive member preview! The Gardens stay open until 7pm exclusively for members. Take a guided walk at 4pm through the gardens to learn about cherry blossoms and other flowering trees, and end up at the Sturt Haaga Gallery to preview Portraits of the Garden: BLOOM!. Meets at Center Circle. A shuttle will be running from 4:30 – 7:30pm.

Minyo Station presents a jazzy style of Japanese folk music blending traditional Japanese music, Minyo, with various genres of Western music.

Portraits of the Garden II: BLOOM! celebrates the flower – probably the best known and most enjoyed feature of Descanso Gardens. Help cover the halls and walls of the Sturt Haaga Gallery into a most extraordinary bouquet of flowers by submitting your artwork for the show. Members get a 75% discount on the entry fee, email membership@descansogardens.org for the code. For more information about calls for entry, click here. This exhibit is open until Sunday, May 28, 2017.

June Kuramoto performs on the koto, the national instrument of Japan. A classically trained musician, she is a founding member of the Japanese-American fusion ensemble Hiroshima.

Drawing Nature @ Descanso Gardens

6 Saturdays starting on April 1st. Meets in Birch classroom.

Join Descanso favorite, artist R. Jay Ewing, for a brand new art series. Learn the foundations of drawing in this nature-based class for beginning and intermediate students. Class meets for 6 Saturdays from April 1 to May 6. $90 members, $120 nonmembers. Students will be emailed a materials list after registration. Registration deadline is March 27.
