What are the days and hours of operation of Enchanted: Forest of Light?

Enchanted: Forest of Light runs daily from 5:30pm to 10pm starting Sunday, Nov. 18 and ending Sunday, Jan. 6, 2019. The event is closed on Nov. 22 (Thanksgiving), Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve), and Dec. 25 (Christmas Day). The Enchanted Preview Party will take place Nov. 17.

 

Where is Descanso Gardens located?

Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011, near the intersection of the 210 and 2 freeways. It is a 20-minute drive from downtown Los Angeles. Click here for driving directions.

 

How much are tickets?

General admission tickets for adults, children (2–18), and seniors are $28–$30 depending on the date and time selected. Children under 2 enter free, but still require a ticket. Descanso Gardens members receive a $5 discount per ticket. (Become a member by clicking here)

 

When are tickets available?

Tickets are available for Descanso members on Oct. 1 at 10am at enchantedLA.com. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Oct. 15 at 10am at enchantedLA.com.

 

How do I get tickets?

Tickets can be purchased at enchantedLA.com. Each person, even under the age of 2, requires a timed-entry ticket. Tickets are also available for purchase in advance at the Descanso Gardens Visitor Center at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Canada Flintridge. The Visitor Center is open daily from 9am to 4:30pm. Please note: During the run of Enchanted from Nov. 18–Jan. 6, tickets are not available at the door and must be purchased in advance.

 

As a Descanso Gardens member, do I receive a discount on tickets?

Yes, Descanso Gardens members receive more than 15% off ticket prices. Member tickets for Enchanted: Forest of Light are $23–$25 depending on the date and time selected. Only current members will receive the special offers. Join or renew here. Members will also be able to purchase tickets starting Oct. 1, before they are offered to the general public.

 

As a Descanso Gardens member, do I receive free tickets?

No, Enchanted: Forest of Light is a special ticketed event that is not part of your membership benefit. As a Descanso member, you may receive a discount on tickets. The Enchanted: Forest of Light member presale begins Oct. 1 at 10am at enchantedLA.com.

 

I am a member of a reciprocal garden. Do I get the member discount?

No, only Descanso Gardens members receive the special discount.

 

What if I can’t use my ticket?

Tickets and Descanso Gardens memberships are not refundable. In the event you are unable to use your ticket, please consider your purchase a donation to Descanso Gardens Guild, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Federal Tax ID 95-2511202. Enchanted is a rain or shine event. Dress warmly and bring an umbrella!

 

Can I reschedule my ticket?

Descanso Gardens members receive one-time complimentary ticket rescheduling, limited to availability of an alternate date and time. All rescheduling requests must be made more than 48 hours prior to your ticketed date/time. If an alternate ticket time is not available, we may not be able to honor your request. Please note that rescheduling requests due to weather cannot be accommodated; Enchanted is a rain or shine event (dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if necessary!). There is a $4.95 rescheduling fee per order for non-members, subject to the same restrictions above. Please note that depending on the date selected, the price of your rescheduled ticket may increase or decrease. To reschedule call (818) 949-4200.

 

Can I buy tickets for a group?

There is no special rate for groups. All tickets must be purchased through enchantedLA.com.

 

Does my ticket include daytime admission to Descanso Gardens?

No, the ticket covers admission only to Enchanted: Forest of Light, which is presented after regular business hours. If you wish to visit Descanso Gardens during the daytime, you must purchase a separate ticket, which is available at the Visitor Center in advance. The last daytime admission to Descanso Gardens is 4:30pm.

 

How long is the walk through Enchanted: Forest of Light?

The event route is about 1 mile long, and takes most visitors about one hour to complete. We recommend allowing one and a half hours to experience Enchanted. It is accessible for strollers, wheelchairs and mobility assistance devices. Evenings in La Cañada Flintridge can be chilly so please dress warmly. Participants are encouraged to wear walking shoes.

 

Where do I park for Enchanted: Forest of Light?

Parking attendants will direct you to parking in the Descanso lots. Parking is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Is Descanso Gardens open in the daytime during Enchanted: Forest of Light?

Yes, Descanso is open to daytime visitors during its regular hours of operation, 9am to 5pm daily (closed Christmas). Last daytime admission to Descanso Gardens is 4pm. The light installations have a minimal impact on the overall beauty of the Gardens.

 

Is food available? May I bring food from outside?

Will the Descanso Gardens Gift Shop be open during Enchanted: Forest of Light?

Yes! Our Gift Shop will be open during the event. Check out our variety of unique and seasonal merchandise for gardeners, nature lovers and more – perfect for gifting or getting!

 

Can I take pictures? What about selfie-sticks?

Yes, you may take pictures. Visitors may also use monopods or selfie-sticks with care. Tripods and drones are not allowed.

 

May I bring a pet to Enchanted: Forest of Light?

No. Descanso Gardens does not allow animals, except for ADA-designated service animals. 

 

How will this event affect the wildlife at Descanso Gardens?

Animal welfare was one of our top priorities while designing this event. We specifically chose areas of the Gardens with wildlife concerns in mind, limiting the walk to areas that are already well-used for evening events. The light displays contained within the 1-mile route are designed not to bleed into areas of the Gardens where disruption to wildlife habitats is a concern. 

 

Is Enchanted cancelled because of the weather?

Enchanted is a rain or shine event. Dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if necessary!

Please note: Descanso is home to many animals including birds, deer, mountain lions, bears, snakes, squirrels and more. Enjoy viewing these creatures, but remember that this is their home and we are the visitors. It is illegal and harmful to people and wildlife to approach, feed, handle, capture or harass any animal. Please keep a safe distance. Getting too close, feeding and touching are all things that can put you and the animal in danger.
