Seeing the world—and the Gardens—through the eyes of children is a rejuvenating experience for family members of all ages. Throughout the year programs are offered to educate and entertain by appealing to the natural curiosity of the young.

Toddler Treks

Fridays starting Sept. 17 | 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. sessions

Adults explore nature with young tots (ages 2 to 4) in weekly workshops that involves rotating themes, stories, crafts and a walk in the Gardens. Children participating receive a special T-shirt. Participants should wear sensible shoes and outdoor clothing.

$65 per child, $45 additional sibling; $55 members, $35 additional member siblings

Budding Botanists

Saturday, Sept. 18 | 11 a.m.-noon | Magnolia Lawn

Descanso Education Coordinator Hannah Wiggins teaches the many uses of native plants. Open to children ages 6 to 10.

$12 per child (siblings $6); advanced registration required

Seed Mosaics

Saturday, Oct. 16 | 11 a.m. to noon

Youngsters create a work of art using seeds. This event runs concurrently with the Autumn Air art event. Space is limited; advance registration recommended.

Cost: $10 per child.
