What are the days and hours of operation of Carved?
Carved runs from 6:30pm to 10:30pm, Oct. 23–27. Carved is a rain or shine event. Dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if necessary.
Where is Descanso Gardens located?
Descanso Gardens is located at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Cañada Flintridge, CA 91011, near the intersection of the 210 and 2 freeways. It is a 20-minute drive from downtown Los Angeles. Click here for driving directions.
How much are tickets?
Carved tickets for adults, children (2–18), and seniors are $25–$30. Children under 2 enter free, but still require a ticket. Descanso Gardens members receive a $5 discount per ticket. (Become a member by clicking here) Descanso Gardens members receive more than 15% off ticket prices. Only current members will receive the special offers. Join or renew here. Members will also be able to purchase tickets starting Sept. 3, before they are offered to the general public
When and where are tickets available?
Tickets are available for Descanso members on Sept. 3 at 10am at descansogardens.org. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Oct. 1 at 10am at descansogardens.org. Each person, even under the age of 2, requires a timed-entry ticket. Tickets are also available for purchase in advance at the Descanso Gardens Visitor Center at 1418 Descanso Drive, La Canada Flintridge. The Visitor Center is open daily from 9am to 4:30pm.
How many tickets can I buy?
Up to six tickets can be purchased per transaction.
I am a member of a reciprocal garden. Do I get a member discount?
No, only Descanso Gardens members receive the special discount.
What if I can’t use my ticket?
Tickets and Descanso Gardens memberships are not refundable. In the event you are unable to use your ticket, please consider your purchase a donation to Descanso Gardens Guild, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Federal Tax ID 95-2511202. Carved is a rain or shine event. Dress warmly and bring an umbrella!
Can I reschedule my ticket?

Can I buy tickets for a group?
There is no special rate for groups. All tickets must be purchased through descansogardens.org.
Does my ticket include daytime admission to Descanso Gardens?
No, the ticket covers admission only to Carved, which is presented after regular business hours. If you wish to visit Descanso Gardens during the daytime, you must purchase a separate ticket, which is available at the Visitor Center in advance. The last daytime admission to Descanso Gardens is 4:30pm.
How long is the walk through Carved?
The event route is about 1 mile long and takes most visitors about one hour to complete. It is accessible for strollers, wheelchairs and mobility assistance devices. Evenings in La Cañada Flintridge can be chilly so please dress warmly. Participants are encouraged to wear walking shoes.
Where do I park for Carved?
Parking attendants will direct you to park in the Descanso lots. Parking is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Is food available? May I bring food from outside?
Snacks and beverage options are available for purchase at the event. Outside food is not allowed in the Gardens.
Will the Descanso Gardens Gift Shop be open during Carved?
Yes! Our Gift Shop will be open during the event. Check out our variety of unique and seasonal merchandise for gardeners, nature lovers and more – perfect for gifting or getting!
Can I take pictures? What about selfie-sticks?
Yes, you may take pictures. Visitors may also use monopods or selfie-sticks with care. Tripods and drones are not allowed.
May I bring a pet to Carved?
No. Descanso Gardens does not allow animals, except for ADA-designated service animals.
Can I wear a costume to Carved?
Children ages 14 and under are welcome to dress in costumes. We simply request no masks, toy weapons, or offensive costumes.
Is Carved canceled because of the weather?
Carved is a rain or shine event. Dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if necessary!
Please note: Descanso is home to many animals including birds, deer, mountain lions, bears, snakes, squirrels and more. Enjoy viewing these creatures, but remember that this is their home and we are the visitors. It is illegal and harmful to people and wildlife to approach, feed, handle, capture or harass any animal. Please keep a safe distance. Getting too close, feeding and touching are all things that can put you and the animal in danger.
