Join the creative community of Descanso Gardens for Cultivate, a summer event series that brings people together through art, performance, and interactive experiences in nature. 

Over the years, this signature series has continued to evolve and now debuts as a newly reimagined experience—an immersive, thoughtfully curated evening of participation, discovery, and sensory engagement. 

Each Cultivate explores a different theme, designed to feed curiosity and reveal new ways of experiencing the gardens.

Cultivate: Movement! invites guests to think about what it means for a plant, an animal, or a person to use their body and move through the world.

Wander the grounds at your own pace, discovering performances and activities that unfold throughout the evening.

Drinks and light refreshments will be available for purchase.

$30 for members, $40 for non-members

$10 for children 3-12, children under 3 are free (both members and non-members)

Walk-ups are accepted until 9pm.

CRAFT — 7-9:45pm: Movement Illusion Craft in the Rose Garden Pavilion

WATCH — 7:15-7:45pm and 9:15-9:45pm: Donna Sternberg & Dancers Original Dance Piece beginning at the Rose Garden Gazebo

EXPERIENCE — 8-9:15pm: Dance Church all-levels movement class/dance party at the Rose Garden Labyrinth

LEARN — 8-8:30pm and 9-9:30pm: Bird Migration Walk & Talk with Chris Spurgeon from the Pasadena Audubon Society on the Promenade

ENGAGE — 7:30-8pm, 8:30-9pm, and 9:30-10pm: Movements in Environmentalism Talk with author and activist Leah Thomas on the Promenade
