Ikebana Display
September 17 @ 9:00 am - 7:00 pm
Included with admission or membership
Celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Japanese Garden at Descanso Gardens by exploring imaginative ikebana displays—the traditional Japanese art of flower arranging that reflects harmony, balance, and an appreciation for the fleeting beauty of nature.
The exhibition is open in Minka, Japanese Garden, from September 14–20, 2026, 10am–4pm daily.
Entry is included in the price of admission or membership.
Inspired by the gentle sound of water flowing through the garden, the exhibition invites visitors to experience a deeper sense of calm, rhythm, and connection with the natural surroundings.
Presented by Group Yokou, this exhibition highlights Sogetsu Ikebana, a style rooted in centuries-old tradition and redefined as a practice for the modern era with the belief that ikebana can be created anytime, anywhere, by anyone.
This philosophy moved the art beyond the confines of tearooms and temples, encouraging experimentation, personal expression, and the use of unconventional materials such as metal, glass, stone, and everyday objects. The result is a dynamic, living art form that seamlessly connects tradition with innovation.
This program is generously funded, in part, by Perenchio Foundation.
