Learn to tell the story of a place through sketching and poetic language with John Pitblado.

In the lush setting of the Descanso Gardens, explore the intersection of language and visual art through a process of observation and translation.

Inspired by the natural surroundings, we will move from simple words and evocative phrases to poetic visual descriptions on paper.

This workshop is for all skill levels and encourages seeing and interpreting the world around you.

About John Pitblado

John Pitblado has always been drawn to the creative arts. This passion led him to the University of Minnesota and the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where he was immersed in the world of fine arts and garment textile design. In 2017, he joined Urban Sketchers Los Angeles.

John seeks to blend his love for art, education, and community—helping others find the same fulfillment and inspiration in sketching that continues to enrich his own journey.
