Don’t miss Cultivate: LA Local on April 26 from 4:30–7pm with live music, dancing, refreshments, and engaging experiences in nature that will connect you more deeply to the world around you.

The event is free with admission or membership, no registration required.

Theodore Payne Foundation 

  • Learn about fire prevention, habitat gardening, and native plants with the Theodore Payne Foundation! Check out their amazing traveling seed museum
  • Location: El Portal in the California Garden
  • 4:30–7pm 

Poetry Reading 

  • Featuring Traci Kato-Kiriyama and Los Angeles Poet Laureate Lynne Thompson
  • 4:30–5:30pm & 5:45–6:45pm

California Garden tour with Austin Kreuger 

  • Experience the beauty of the California Garden with Descanso Gardens horticulturist Austin Kreuger

Hands-on Activity 

  • Stamp a California native wildflowers seed packet 
  • Location: Main Lawn

Flashdance DJs

  • Have a drink in the Rose Garden bar and enjoy a mix of classic hits and contemporary songs by our popular guest DJs
